Key Flow

Players develop a riverside settlement over four seasons by drafting and playing village cards, placing buildings, farming animals, and managing boats and docks along the river. Each round, players select a card and pass the rest left or right according to the season, then assign workers (keyples) to operate their own and neighbors’ businesses to generate resources and actions. Village cards can be upgraded, goods shipped, and gold gathered; scoring occurs at the end of winter based on buildings, animals, keyples, resources and upgrades. The game emphasizes card-driven planning, worker placement interaction, and seasonal development across four quick rounds.

This is a drafting game where you draft cards that are either buildings for your tableau, or workers which you can place in your area or an opponent's area to activate their buildings. You play a series of rounds ending in the winter phase when some large portion of the cards have your scoring criteria on them. I enjoyed the process of the game, although scoring at the end was a bit of a bear. There's no scoring sheet included, and each component you score has to be assigned to a single scoring card. So for example, if you score for red meeples and pigs, you have to pick one of those things to put a card that has both into. A bit wonky. Still, enjoyable. Not a replacement for Keyflower, but then I wasn't looking for one. I wish this designer wouldn't tie everything to keyflower. It sets up strange expectations. :star: Art, Iconography and components functional :star: Clever or interesting mechanisms :star: Reasonably low downtime between turns with mildly AP players :star: Multiple plays stay interesting :star: Low or mitigatable luck elements :star::star::star::nostar::nostar: Raw enjoyment
