Trickerion: Collector's Edition

Trickerion: Collector's Edition

Set in a Victorian steampunk world, rival stage illusionists build careers by recruiting apprentices, researching effects, and mounting theatrical performances. Players assign workers and choose actions simultaneously to gather components, develop and learn new Tricks, equip props, and prepare shows in the Theater. Performing each round earns income and Fame, which unlocks stronger Tricks and abilities; the player with the most Fame wins. The Collector’s Edition bundles the base game with multiple expansions, modules, extra magicians and solo rules, revised components and deluxe accessories that expand setup options and play variety.

Rules questions

Answered from the rulebook by Ludoya's rules assistant.

Can any character perform tricks in the Theater, or only the Magician?

Only the Magician can take the Perform action during the Performance phase; other characters may Set Up or Reschedule Trick markers but cannot Perform (Magician only). (pp. 17–18)

Do I have to spend Components when I Prepare a Trick in my Workshop?

No — Components are not spent when you Prepare a Trick; you only need to meet the Component requirements and have no Trick markers already on that Trick card to Prepare it. (p. 16)

How do Trick Links work and who gets the linking bonuses or Shards?

When two Trick markers with the same category meet in a Link circle you create a Link and the player who created the Link immediately receives the Link bonus based on the Trick’s level (1/2/3 Fame or Coins); if the Link circle has a Shard symbol, each player with a Trick marker in that Link also immediately gains one Trickerion Shard (creating the Link yourself over a Shard gives you only one). (p. 17)

How are a placed character’s Action Points determined, and can I buy +1 AP with a Shard?

A placed character’s AP = base by type (Apprentice 1 / Specialist 2 / Magician 3) plus the slot modifier, and you may pay one Trickerion Shard once when placing a character (not in the Theater) to gain +1 AP. (p. 12)

If my Tricks are on another player's Performance card, do I still get their Yields and any weekday modifiers?

Yes — every player with at least one Trick marker on the Performance receives the Yields of their own Tricks, and weekday Yield modifiers (Thursday penalty / Sunday bonus) apply to those players even if their Magician is not present. (p. 18)

How is the Initiative Order set each turn?

Initiative is set at the start of each turn to be the reverse of players’ Fame order (the player with the fewest Fame acts first); if players share a Fame slot their relative order is reversed next time, and the first turn skips this step. (p. 11)
