2022 · Renaissance
Virtù
Players portray rival Italian city-states during the Renaissance and seek to increase their city’s power and prestige through strategic statecraft. Each player builds a personal “wheel of actions” by placing family and acquired cards on a unique player board; the wheel determines available actions and evolving strategies as new cards are added. Interaction occurs indirectly by taking contested cards and racing for objectives, and directly via sending agents to the palace or other cities and by launching attacks. Artists, merchants, and diplomats provide alternative paths to influence. The game includes a distinct two-player mode with different play dynamics from the 3–5 player game.
