Apocalypse in the East: The Rise of the First Caliphate 646-656 A.D.

Set in the eastern Mediterranean from 646 to 656 A.D., the game depicts the conflict between the Syrian forces of Caliph Uthmān and the Byzantine Empire under the young emperor Constans. Players direct regimental-sized armies and naval forces across terrain ranging from Armenia to Crete, seeking either to capture Constantinople or preserve Byzantine control. Yearly turns and random events reflect political and military developments, including the Monothelete Controversy, earthquakes, court appointments, purges in the Byzantine high command, Empress Fausta, and the introduction of Greek Fire.
