Cthulhu Wars: Shaggai Map Expansion

An alternate map set on the doomed world of Shaggai, shown at the moment of its annihilation by the Worms of Ghroth. The board uses hex-shaped areas to reflect the planet’s insectile ecology and includes oceans and land hexes; the game begins with a single Worm token that spreads oblivion during Doom phases. During play Worms gradually eradicate hexes, spawning new Worms and converting destroyed areas into resources: eradicated units grant Power and eradicated gates grant Elder Signs. Units may "jump over" eradicated hexes at the cost of sacrificing a unit, enabling movement across the blighted terrain. If destruction reaches a critical level the map can trigger an early end, at which point players total Doom and Elder Signs to determine the winner.
