A boxed hardback set contains two books that support modern-day covert investigations into cosmic horror. Players create government or civilian agents with detailed professions and percentile-based skills, then pursue tense, clue-driven investigations, improvisatory equipment use, and brutal, unpredictable combat. Sanity mechanics track gradual and sudden psychological deterioration, and “home” scenes let play explore agents’ personal stakes. The referee volume supplies setting history, rituals and unnatural entities, rules for designing new threats, agency dossiers, campaign guidance, and a ready-to-run scenario. The system is compatible with two decades of previously published scenarios and source material.
