Four mages devote their lives to mastering earth, wind, fire, and water, eventually binding themselves to the elements and becoming the first elemental creatures. Centuries later, their immense power drives them to madness, and they perform a ritual that seals them within separate stone sarcophagi, where they remain entombed.
