Players take the role of sorcerers seeking forbidden knowledge through pacts with the lords and demons of chaos. They use rune magic to cast curses on living beings and objects, summon rotted cadavers to serve their purposes, and question the dead for hidden secrets. Ancient tomes reveal new breeds of demons and infernal powers, allowing the sorcerers to pursue ever-greater magical ambition.
