The Next War: Modern Conflict in Europe

A brigade- and divisional-level simulation of a late-1970s Soviet-led Warsaw Pact invasion across central Europe, covering Denmark through Germany and Austria to northern Italy. Movement-driven play resolves combat during movement, with units able to push beyond basic allowances at increased risk of fatigue and attrition. The standard rules form a complete, faster-playing land game; optional modules add weather, supply, chemical/nuclear effects, air and naval operations, airborne/airmobile and amphibious actions, helicopters, special forces, and electronic warfare. Campaign and shorter scenarios cover different outbreak timings and readiness states for the first 60 days after mobilization, supported by multiple large maps, hundreds of counters, and scenario/reference booklets.
