Wraith: The Oblivion 20th Anniversary Edition

Players portray restless dead whose unresolved ties to life pull them between the living world and a layered Underworld dominated by Oblivion. Characters manage passions, relationships, and the parasites of their own inner Shadows while pursuing goals like protecting loved ones, gaining status in the Empire of the Dead, or seeking the Far Shores. Mechanically, the game uses a Storytelling-roleplay framework where players spend and earn resources to activate Arcanoi—supernatural powers that affect the living and the dead—navigate political and social structures in Stygia, and resist the corrosive pull of Oblivion and its Spectres. Sessions focus on emotional conflict, investigation, and exploration of a bleak, mythic afterlife rather than tactical combat.
