A Victory Denied: Crisis at Smolensk, July-September, 1941

A two-player operational-level wargame that recreates the mobile fighting between German and Soviet forces around Smolensk in July–September 1941. Players command division- and corps-level units on a hex-and-counter map, managing movement, supply, and command while resolving combat and air operations over weekly turns. The game uses a simple system with chit-pull activations, upgraded supply and command rules specific to this campaign, and mechanics for air power and internal political effects. Components include a large map, a full countersheet, rulebook, player aids, and dice; play typically runs about four hours and is rated highly for solitaire play.
