Players face a harsh post-apocalyptic winter, managing survival as temperatures drop and threats change. The game introduces new characters, special zombie types, and an expanded assortment of weapons, traps, and equipment. Play proceeds through a three-chapter campaign that allows saving progress between missions and persistent deck development. Players build and evolve their character decks, choose specialties such as heavy armor and melee weapons or a broader roster of companions and animals, and adapt tactics to survive increasingly difficult encounters.
