Players command one of four distinct races in an alternate steampunk world where magic and steam technology intersect. Over seven rounds, players secretly and simultaneously deploy units on a modular hex map, capture villages and upgrade them into cities, gather resources, and resolve diceless combat to control territory for victory points. Research paths in Sorcery, Science, and Religion unlock race-specific discoveries and technologies, while a card-based espionage system and unique unit abilities add tactical options. The game supports free-for-all or 2v2 play and emphasizes hidden deployment, area control, and evolving strategic choices.
