Players take on secret roles in a tense bluffing and deduction game set amid religious and political conflict. Each player declares an allegiance to one of two factions and may only target members of the opposing faction, creating temporary team dynamics that shift through play. New character cards introduce roles like the Inquisitor and a Treasury that enable actions such as conversions and charitable donations to the Almshouse, and 15 extra characters support larger groups up to ten players. Play proceeds with income, coups, challenges, and strategic reveals until only one player remains, with alliances dissolving into individual competition as the game narrows.
