Players are cast onto Athas, a dying world beneath a harsh red sun. Ancient civilizations endure within isolated city-states ruled by powerful Sorcerer-Monarchs, while the surrounding regions hold undead wastelands, razor-sharp bamboo forests controlled by the Kreen, and the vast Sea of Silt. The game focuses on surviving and navigating this hostile setting, where scarce resources, dangerous territories, and oppressive rulers shape every journey.
