King of Thieves

A level-4 adventure for D&D 5e and Shadowdark. The characters are hired by the captain of the city watch to raid Cobblers' Market, where the Ash Knives criminal guild has hanged a noble hostage after an unpaid ransom and left the body on display. The party confronts the criminals in the market, then tracks them to their dockside base. There, the guild leader’s history and grudge against the city’s nobles come to light, raising questions about vengeance, justice, and the cost of his actions.
