Lost Battles: Forty Battles & Campaigns of the Ancient World

A compilation of forty ancient engagements and campaigns spanning the Persian Wars through Caesar’s civil war. Players enact land battles on a modular 5×4 grid of full‑colour terrain tiles or operate at the grand strategic level on a mounted map from Spain to India, with options to combine both layers for campaign play. Play supports 1–4 players or solitaire and balances historical detail with relatively quick play: individual battles resolve in a few hours while the standalone strategic game can finish in about 30 minutes. Players allocate scarce command points, manage troop types and generalship, risk exhaustion or leader casualties, and may achieve handicapped ‘game victories’ by outperforming historical outcomes.
