An expansion adds a fifth player and introduces brine as a new resource that can be extracted from the mines and processed into salt. Players also decide where new shafts are built, creating a different mine layout in each game. The expansion includes a board with two new buildings, colored mine foremen, royal orders requiring brine, new mine tiles, and two tools, including the capstan.
