Strat-O-Matic Pro Football

A statistically driven simulation of American football that uses individual player and team defensive cards to reproduce seasonal NFL performance. Players act as head coach/general manager, selecting offensive plays (run or pass, direction, ball carrier or primary receiver) while the opposing player sets defensive alignments (blitzes, double coverage, stacked line, etc.). In the card-and-dice version, dice determine whether the offensive or defensive card governs a play and which specific result applies; a board tracks field position, downs, and game time. Penalties and injuries are included. A computer edition automates resolution, records statistics, and offers a computerized coach and X-and-O visual play depiction for solitaire or assisted play.
