The Salient of Fire. Kursk: 1943

A two-player historical wargame covering Manstein’s offensive on the southern flank of the Kursk Salient in 1943. The German player attempts to break through three heavily fortified Soviet defensive lines near Oboyan and capture Oboyan and the Prokhorovka railway station. The Soviet player commands Vatutin’s Voronezh Front and uses the 1st and 5th Guards Tank Armies to stop the German advance. The game also includes a historical scenario depicting the tank clash near Prokhorovka. Each hex represents 5 km, each turn one day, and counters represent regimental, battalion, or brigade-sized units.
