No — players cannot spread out the deck on the table; you must either designate one player to search or split the facedown deck among players (but not lay all cards out) (page 2).

You combine objects by adding their red and blue numbers together and then revealing the card that matches that sum; the golden rule is that a red number can only be combined with a blue number (and vice versa), other combinations are not allowed (pages 4 and 8).

Modifiers are +numbers (red or blue) that never correspond to a card by themselves and must be added to the opposite-color number per the golden rule; treat them as the added value when searching for the result card (page 5).

Machine (green) cards are handled through the app: enter the card number (or the number under a letter) and the app will display the machine interface and guide the steps; misuse can cause time penalties (pages 5 and 7).

Crossed-out numbers or letters indicate the corresponding cards must be immediately discarded because they will not be used again in the adventure (page 4).
