Players integrate these story cards into their decks to alter game flow and mechanics, using tokens and rules specific to multiplayer and solo setups. The expansion supplies a pool of story cards and tokens, plus solo/cooperative Shadow bot cards for use with the provided solo scenarios. Story cards can be combined with the base game or other expansions to modify strategies and thematic outcomes during play.
