World At War 85: When the Lion Roars

A platoon-level wargame set in an alternate 1985, where a wider World War III has spread across Europe, China, and the Middle East. Israel launches a pre-emptive strike against Syria as Syrian forces prepare a counteroffensive to drive the Israeli Army toward the Mediterranean. Players command units in fast-moving tactical combat using opposing die rolls, with unit counters containing the information needed to resolve attacks. Initiative, formation activation, variable turn lengths, close air support, and air cover are integrated into the system without a combat results table.
