Brandon the Brave

Players take the role of aspiring knights traveling a modular landscape to complete quests and face hazards like giants, dragons, and witches. On a turn, players place terrain tiles adjacent to existing tiles to build paths and encounters, then resolve challenges by meeting task conditions. Strategic tile placement shapes available routes and opportunities to score. The game ends after the map is completed or a set number of quests are resolved, and the player with the most accomplished tasks wins.

This is a basic tile laying game for young kids. On your turn you draw and place a triangle shaped piece and place it in the central map so the pictures line up. If you match an X with an X of the same color, you can flip over one of your objective tokens with a matching X. If you complete a tent, you can flip an objective token of your choice. The winner is the first player who flips all their objective tokens. I played this with two five year olds, and they had a generally ok time with it, although they were lacking the kind of real enthusiasm I look for in their eyes when I introduce a game to them. ★ Art, Iconography and components functional ☆ Clever or interesting mechanisms ★ Reasonably low downtime between turns with mildly AP players ☆ Multiple plays stay interesting ☆ Low or mitigatable luck elements ★★★☆☆ Raw enjoyment
