2006 · Mord / mysterium
Mr. Jack
One player secretly controls the culprit hidden among eight characters; the other plays an investigator who must identify that culprit with a single formal accusation. Players take turns moving characters and using their unique abilities to place them in light or shadow. At the end of each turn witnesses reveal whether the culprit is currently visible (in light or adjacent to another character) or hidden in shadow, which lets the investigator progressively rule out suspects. The culprit aims to evade capture by fleeing the district or surviving eight turns, while the investigator balances deduction and positioning to narrow the list and make a correct accusation.

Poteet7,0 Fairly unique 2p experience. Good bit of deduction and game has a good pace.
Asymmetric Deduction Two Players Board Game. I think it's a really well done game and it's played very differently between the player who is Jack, and the inspector. Fast, strategic and really enjoyable.
Garfield7,0 22 Good asymetrical 2 player game
Regelspørsmål
Besvart fra regelboka av Ludoyas regelassistent.
How do I know if a character is visible or invisible?
A character is visible if it stands on a lit hex (adjacent to a lit gaslight) or is on a hex adjacent to another character; a character is invisible if it is on an unlit hex and not adjacent to any other character (page 2).
When does Jack have to declare visible or invisible and what happens when he does?
After the four characters are played each round Jack must declare whether he is visible or invisible; if he is visible all invisible characters are proved innocent, and if he is invisible all visible characters are proved innocent — the Witness card is set accordingly and those innocents are marked (page 3).
Can I move a character through hexes occupied by other characters or end on the same hex?
You may move through hexes occupied by other characters because tokens don’t block movement, but you may not end a move on a hex already occupied unless you are making an accusation (page 5).
Do I have to use a character’s special ability when I play them?
Most character abilities are mandatory and must be used when the character is played; the exceptions noted as optional are Sir William Gull’s swap and Miss Stealthy’s ability to cross obstacles (page 5).
When and how can Jack escape the district?
Only Jack may move a character out an unblocked exit, and this can only be attempted during a round that follows one in which Jack was declared invisible (so Jack cannot leave during the first round); if Jack escapes he immediately wins (pages 3, 6).
