Terraforming Mars: Hellas & Elysium
This expansion adds a double-sided board with two alternative maps of Mars for the base game. One side represents northern lowlands and southern highlands, offering new placement spots such as Olympus Mons that grant card rewards and map-specific estate scoring near water. The other side centers on the southern pole and a large crater suited to becoming a lake, with placement bonuses that produce heat and water. Each map includes tailored milestones and awards that change strategic priorities and scoring based on tile placement and regional control.

Do Noctis City and Lava Flows keep their normal placement restrictions on Hellas and Elysium?
On Hellas the Noctis region is absent so Noctis City and Lava Flows lose their placement restrictions and may be placed on any non‑ocean area. On Elysium Noctis City may be placed without restriction, but Lava Flows can only be placed on the four volcanic sites: Arsia Mons, Olympus Mons, Elysium Mons, and Hecates Tholus (page 1).
What happens if I place a tile on the Hellas south pole—do I pay anything and what do I get?
Placing a tile on the Hellas south pole requires paying 6 megacredits, and in return you receive an ocean tile (and its terraform rating) which you may place on any available ocean area (page 1).
How do the new milestones/awards count tags and cards—for example Space Baron, Magnate and Contractor?
Space Baron is awarded for the most space tags (event cards do not count); Magnate is for the most automated (green) cards in play; Contractor is for the most building tags (event cards do not count) (page 1).
Elysium’s Benefactor says ‘Count this award first’—what does that mean?
Benefactor is awarded to the highest terraform rating and is to be counted/scored first when resolving awards (page 1).
Does starting production on my corporation count toward GENERALIST (increase all six productions)?
Yes — GENERALIST requires you to have increased all six productions by at least one step, and starting production from corporation cards counts as an increase (page 1).
What counts as bio tags, project cards, and events for the Elysium milestones ECOLOGIST, TYCOON and LEGEND?
ECOLOGIST counts bio tags which include plant, microbe and animal tags; TYCOON requires 15 project cards in play, meaning blue and green cards; LEGEND requires five played events (red cards) (page 1).
