The Name of the Rose

Players are secret-colored monks trying to shift suspicion onto others while protecting their own identity. Each round, players play cards to move monks, two special figures, or to relocate pieces to numbered locations; card numbers advance a daily clock unless players spend collected chits to reduce the time cost. Moving a monk onto a space without their color increases their suspicion by the chits there, while moving onto their own color lets them claim a chit to lower suspicion. Special figures modify clue or suspicion totals for monks at their location. Over seven days players accumulate and convert suspicion into clue points, periodically reveal a color they are not, and finally make simultaneous identity guesses. The player whose monk has the fewest clue points wins.

Experience/game with mechanics that not fit the storytelling. Too mechanical and too much clean-up phases for a game that could last for 30 minutes or an hour and be way funnier. Also, the rules are not easy to check and do not solve some mechanical problems the game has like really long loops. It is kind of a nice prototype

#15 Funny deduction game that comes to life if you play it with the right group. But it definitely needs a little sheet where you could write down some of your findings. Otherwise it's just pure guessing/luck at the end of the game. Unfortunately it's not about seeking a murderer, it's about finding out who is which monk. Kind of old flavoured game. A very different Feld very clever and original with good theme. Bluffing and deduction with interesting mechanics. Very fun to play with 4-5 players.
