Players lead rival swamp clans competing to become the most prosperous contributors to a mystical marshland. Gameplay unfolds over four rounds of income, turns, and maintenance as players assign unique characters and move boats to perform actions: fish, trade, explore abandoned temples, and build settlements or cult spaces on emerging islets. Some improvements act off-map, such as boosting navigation to increase boat speed or hosting festivals to score points. Players pursue victory points by optimizing locations, choosing trading partners, awakening deities in temples, and meeting variable game goals. An advanced mode gives clans asymmetric abilities.
