GrandBois

GrandBois is a board game for 2–4 players. It plays in 30 minutes and is meant for ages 8 and up. Ludoya players call it best with 2. It is rated 7,1 out of 10 by 9 Ludoya reviewers.

Players secretly draw a clan and take turns selecting and placing forest tiles to expand a shared map. Each tile shows four squares that may contain varying numbers of clan members in one of five colors, empty forest, or a bear; tiles must overlap existing tiles by at least one quarter and may cover squares only when the covering square shows more clan members (or a bear). Each player may place a lookout tower on an empty square of the tile they just placed. Towers score based on adjacent clan members, so tower placement balances immediate points against revealing the player’s clan to opponents. Play continues until the forest is complete and scoring determines control.

????Grandbois is an highly interesting challenging family game we were waiting for after playing it à Brussels Gaming Festival. ⚙️ Hidden roles, tile laying with majority aspects, it plays from 7 years old and has a taste of Wooly Wars with a major difference : tiles can be covered using higher opponents on above ones. Don’t last too much to place your tower…but don’t reveal your color too early ? ! FR : Dans Grandbois on avance masqué : l’identité des joueurs se « devine » peu à peu…selon les placements des tuiles…et lors de la pose de sa tour qui contribue à marquer des points. ℹ️Les tuilesn sont de grand format et peuvent se superposer partiellement contrairement à un certain Guerre des Moutons (2002 déjà !) auquel on pense en jouant. ?Une seule contrainte : pour recouvrir une zone de tuile, il faut un nombre strictement supérieur de personnages sur la nouvelle zone. Bref avec 4 persos de votre couleur…vous êtes tranquille…à moins qu’un des ours du jeu viennent poser ses fesses par là ☺️ !
