Zbuntowane księżniczki

Players portray different princesses at a five-day celebration and try to avoid receiving marriage proposals from uninvited princes. Play proceeds as a trick-taking card game: each player plays a numbered card, follows suit when possible, and the highest card of the lead suit wins the trick. Tricks contain prince cards that each carry proposal points, while a special enchanted frog card carries a larger penalty; the goal is to have the fewest proposal points after five rounds. Each round uses a unique special rule, and each princess has a one-use-per-round special ability. The second edition adjusts balance, adds a catch-up “Rebel of the Ball” mechanism, and updates suited card numbering.

The game’s not perfect, there’s a lot of luck which can feel unfair. Also, the princess abilities are not very balanced. Finally, sometimes it can feel meaningless / “empty”, especially the last few cards of a round. Yet, if you don’t take it too seriously, this is a really fun little family weight card game that works well for 3-6 players. The special rule cards for each round make it stand out from the bunch. Clever use of theme, too, considering it’s only a trick-taking card game. It’s usually anyone’s game until the final round.
