Splendor: Pojedynek

Two rival merchant guilds compete to win favor by collecting gems, pearls, cards, bonuses, and royal favors. Players take gem and pearl tokens from a shared board, use them to purchase development cards that provide discounts and special powers, and claim Privileges and royal favors for prestige. The game is designed for two players and emphasizes direct interaction through contested resources and card effects, featuring three different victory conditions that reward varied strategies and escalating tactical tension.

Can I take any three tokens I want from the board?

No. Take up to 3 non-Gold tokens in one uninterrupted horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line; Gold tokens and empty spaces break the line. Taking 3 of the same color or 2 Pearls gives your opponent a Privilege (p. 5).

Can I take a Gold token using a Privilege or the regular token-taking action?

No. The only way to gain Gold is to take a Gold token and reserve a card; you must then reserve a card from the pyramid or a deck. You can’t do this if no Gold is on the board or you already have 3 reserved cards (pp. 6, 10).

Do my card bonuses reduce the Pearl cost of a card?

No. Bonuses reduce matching Gem costs, but there are no Pearl bonuses. A card’s cost can be reduced to zero, but you don’t gain tokens from buying it (pp. 6–7).

When do I have to discard tokens if I have more than 10?

You may hold more than 10 during your turn, but at the end of the turn you must discard down to 10, choosing which tokens to return to the bag (pp. 9–10).

When do I get to take a Royal card?

Take and resolve one Royal card when you acquire your 3rd Crown, and another when you acquire your 6th. Taking a Royal card is not an action (p. 8).

Do I win as soon as I reach a victory condition?

Check for victory at the end of your turn. You win if you have at least 20 Prestige points, 10 Crowns, or 10 Prestige points on cards of the same color (p. 9).
