Helvetia

Build homes, develop culture, and produce essential goods in small Swiss Alpine villages. Work, trade, and sell goods at market while arranging marriages between villagers from neighboring communities. These unions bring new residents and additional income, helping villages grow as players develop their settlements and choose their own path to prosperity.

In this game, players manage their own little towns. You race to get to 20+ points to end the game before other players are ready. Some points you get for shipping goods, others you get from firsties bonuses, and some points are handed back and forth between players when a majority state changes. The unique thing about this game is the way players rely on each other. You can marry your workers off to other player's boards, which gives them the opportunity to have babies (eventually getting them more workers), and gives you the opportunity to activate the benefits of their building tiles. Ultimately I found the process of play and what my options were on any given turn overly difficult to track. ★ Art, Iconography and components functional ★ Clever or interesting mechanisms ★ Reasonably low downtime between turns with mildly AP players ☆ Multiple plays stay interesting ★ Low or mitigatable luck elements ★★☆☆☆ Raw enjoyment
