Players assume the roles of the novel’s female characters and work to improve their heroines’ prospects as potential wives. During a Courtship Stage, players attend Events, play Character cards to earn Character Points that increase desirability, and use Cunning cards to gain tactical advantages; Cunning does not add to Character Points but determines turn order into the Proposal Stage. When the Proposal Stage begins, players resolve proposals by rolling to see which suitor appears, choose whether to accept, and total their final satisfaction score based on matches, Character Points, and outcomes.
