Players act as merchants in Yokohama during the Meiji period, growing businesses as the port city opens to foreign trade. On each turn players recruit specialists, develop a storefront, learn techniques, and expand sales channels to fulfill domestic and overseas orders. Actions require managing workers and resources, positioning on a modular board to access markets and technology, and optimizing routes to complete trade objectives. Scoring rewards reputation gained from successful shipments, installed improvements, and clever use of specialists; the game ends after a set number of rounds and the highest reputation wins.

Evan10.0 Yokomama is a tactical recipe-fueled pickup and deliver game. It has an interesting mechanism where you lay your workers down on tiles like breadcrumbs and then walk your meeple along chains of tiles containing your workers. You choose where to stop and then resolve an action in your end spot with a strength equal to the number of your pieces there. The game rewards you for taking actions of higher strength encouraging buildup. The nice thing about the recipes here is that you can claim the cards ahead of being able to compete them, which helps a lot in terms of what I see as an issue in similar games, where you are fighting to grab the goal faster than other players after already spending the time lining up the ingredients. While this game might do nothing "new" it's extremely well done, the iconography is consistent and quickly understandable and the gameplay feels very smooth and enjoyable. Downtime between turns is fairly low. Player interaction isn't extremely high, although you do have to pay other players money when you walk through them, or place workers into where their pawn is standing, so it's not completely solitaire. The game also has some nice rules that allow you to earn extra action tokens, so there's good room for clever and creative moves. ★ Art, Iconography and components functional ★ Clever or interesting mechanisms ★ Reasonably low downtime between turns with mildly AP players ★ Multiple plays stay interesting ★ Low or mitigatable luck elements ★★★★★ Raw enjoyment
Garfield2.0 After reading the rules no desire to play. Sounds like boring collecting resources to fulfils goals. Too dry.
أسئلة القواعد
إجابات من كتيّب القواعد يقدمها مساعد القواعد في Ludoya.
Can I place all three Assistants into the same area during the Placement step?
No. On your Placement step you must choose either (a) place 1 Assistant into three different areas or (b) place 2 Assistants into the same area; you may place 1, 2 or 3 Assistants in total but not three into one area (page 5).
Can I place Assistants from my Warehouse tile or from Management boards?
No — Assistants placed during the Placement step must come from your hand; you may not place Assistant pawns from the Warehouse tile or the Management boards (page 4–5).
If there is a President pawn in an area where I place an Assistant, do I have to pay that player?
Yes. For each Assistant you place in an area containing another player’s President pawn you must pay 1 Yen to the owner of each President pawn in that area, and if you cannot pay you may not place the Assistant there (page 5).
When my President pawn is in my hand, can I put it anywhere on the board during the Movement step?
No. You may place your President pawn from your hand only onto a "Possible Action Area," which must contain at least one of your Assistant pawns and must not contain any other players’ President pawns (page 6).
How is Power for an Area Action calculated and is there a maximum?
Power is 1 for your President pawn, 1 per Assistant pawn, and 1 each for Shophouse, Trading House and Station tokens; totals of 6 or more are treated as a maximum of 5 (pages 6–7).
After resolving the Area Action, can I leave some Assistants there or must I take them back?
You must take all Assistant pawns from the Area where you carried out the Area Action and return them all to your hand — no Assistants on that Area remain for you (Pawn Recovery step, page 7).
