Bardwood Grove

Players take the role of fantastical bards competing in a halfling woodland city. Each turn they draw from an asymmetric skill deck, play one card for immediate effects and add another to a Song tableau that composes temporary combos. A tempo dial governs when Songs are sung, creating an ebb-and-flow of building and releasing musical abilities to activate locations, perform gigs, and soothe invading creatures. Players upgrade decks, explore and trigger location actions, and pursue Glory and Fame through performances and achievements. Progress unlocks new content and evolving options: locations, skills, characters, and stronger decks change as play reveals hidden paths and outcomes.

A bit of a brain teaser, but it flows. After teaching it may take a few turns and activations until all makes sense. Second half of any game goes smooth. The asymmetry and unlockable content is good (new players, monsters, creatures...)
