The game runs in two phases: a recruitment/drafting phase where players take followers, alliance cards, enemies, and hourglass tokens, and a resolution phase where players collect faction control and attempt to satisfy alliance requirements. Players coordinate to defeat enemies and secure the favor of specific factions; success means a shared victory and a return to the usual rivalry afterward.
