Fire in the East

A two-player operational-level simulation of the 1941–42 campaign on the Eastern Front, covering the Axis invasion and the Soviet winter counteroffensive. One side controls German and allied forces; the other controls Soviet regulars, militia, Guards, NKVD units and partisan-capable formations. The game uses six large maps spanning Warsaw to Stalingrad and Murmansk to Sevastopol, and thousands of unit counters representing divisions, brigades, regiments, battalions, armor, artillery, and air and naval assets. Players maneuver forces, manage logistics and rail gauges, conduct combined-arms combat with detailed armor and antitank rules, and employ air operations and specialized units (engineers, paratroops, ski troops, flammpanzers, etc.). Weather, Arctic conditions, sieges, supply isolation and doctrinal limits affect operations, forcing trade-offs between rapid armored advances and sustainable front-line defenses.
