Roads to Leningrad: Battles of Soltsy and Staraya Russa, 1941

A two-game package recreates the 1941 Soltsy and Staraya Russa operations during the German drive toward Leningrad. Players command battalion- and company-level units on a double-sided 22×34 inch hex map (1.2 miles per hex) with 12-hour turns, moving armor, infantry and support formations while managing supply and terrain constraints. Scenarios cover the July counterattack that checked an armored spearhead at Soltsy, the follow-up German breakout, and the August fighting around Staraya Russa where Soviet mechanized forces punched deep and German motorized reinforcements raced to contain them. Play emphasizes maneuver, timing of reinforcements, encirclement and localized supply effects.
