Experts seek to understand an Alien through limited communication and resources. Players arrange black and white pieces on a mat to create graphical signals. The Alien responds according to hidden rules, adjusting the signal in ways that provide clues while working toward a preset agreement. Experts discuss the responses, make limited guesses, and use a few hint-like abilities to deduce the rules and send the correct signal. After each successful round, additional rules are introduced, building on the previous ones. The group wins cooperatively after three agreements, with a score based on remaining guesses and unused abilities.
