SpellBook
Players compete as wizards who collect Materia, feed a familiar, and assemble a grimoire to score points. Early rounds use preset spell sets, then players draw or build spell combinations that grant persistent effects; combinations stack and change how the game plays. Players balance spending Materia to use spells now or saving it to power stronger, longer-lasting effects. Each unique set of combinations alters strategy, with thousands of possible spell pairings across games. The session ends when a grimoire is complete or a familiar is fully fed; highest score wins. A solo mode replicates the multiplayer experience for learning and challenge.

On ne comprend pas les avis à 2 ou 3 sur ce jeu, on a plus de 20 parties dans divers groupes globalement familiaux "initiés", c'est un des titres qui plaît le plus depuis quelques semaines. Alors malgré les apparences de jeu complexe, on est sur du jeu familial, c'est peut-être ce qui déçoit certains vu que le thème pourrait parler à des heavy gamers. Mis à part le fait que l'interaction est très faible (mais comme dans bon nombre de jeux parfois très réussis), on aime le challenge proposé à chaque partie (qui peut être unique si besoin), le jeu est court, dynamique, certes avec du hasard mais en famille sur 30 minutes, c'est une très bonne et belle pioche ! Mochilo5,9 Es un juego que no sorprende pero que es vistoso. Tiene una temática y la defiende. Te sientes el típico brujo que está haciendo sus brujerías en función de hora del día en una cabaña olvidada de un profundo bosque (hay que echarle imaginación ?). Me gusta que los hechizos tengan su nombre propio y que sean temáticos a pesar de que al final sea mover fichas aquí y allá. Los materiales están muy logrados (sobre todo las fichas) y en mi caso, por el precio que pagué es una perica en dulse. Tiene solitario y con eso me gana de calle y además el automa es sencillo.

Can I take more than one action in a phase (for example, two Morning actions)?
No — you are limited to a single action in each phase (Morning, Midday, Evening); performing an action is optional and you may skip a phase (see page 5).
When do I store Materia on my Familiar — before or after I learn a Spell?
You store Materia during the Midday phase, so you must decide to store before the Evening phase when you learn Spells (see page 6 and the “Frequently Forgotten Rules” on page 16).
Can I transform three identical‑rune Materia into a wild Materia at any time?
No — converting 3 Materia with the same rune into a wild Materia can only be done when you perform the Learn 1 Spell action (Evening); it cannot be done for other effects (see page 6 and page 16).
What happens when I resupply the Altar and it’s already full (or has 10+ Materia)?
If the Altar has 10 or more Materia, discard all tokens from the Altar and draw 5 Materia from the Pouch to place on it; otherwise follow the rules for fewer than 5 or 5–9 tokens when resupplying (see page 8). If the Pouch is empty when drawing, return all discard tokens to the Pouch and continue drawing (page 8).
Can I learn the same Spell again or later upgrade a Spell I already learned?
No — a Spell can only be learned once, so you cannot use the Learn 1 Spell action later to upgrade a Spell you already learned (see page 6).
How many Materia can I have in my pool, and what if an action would make me exceed that limit?
Your pool is strictly limited to 9 Materia at all times; draw/take Materia one at a time, and if an action would exceed the limit it is only partially completed (you stop once you reach 9) (see page 5).
