Tanto Monta: The Rise of Ferdinand & Isabella 1470-1516

A strategic card-driven war game for four players representing the Muslim, French, Portuguese and Spanish powers in the Western Mediterranean during the late 15th and early 16th centuries. Players play cards either for their event text or as action points to perform power-specific actions at specified costs, alternating card plays over up to seven turns. Victory points accrue from military objectives, exploration of new zones, trade, dynastic marriages and certain events; the first player to reach 45 VP wins. Military engagements resolve with dice rolls modified by unit types and optional combat cards, while exploration and trade mechanics drive competition for influence and resources.
