Players take the role of Autobots, shifting between alternate modes while recruiting allies, acquiring relics and technology, and exploring locations tied to the Matrix. Gameplay centers on deck-building: players expand and refine their decks to generate resources, take actions, and confront increasingly powerful Decepticon threats. The game supports both competitive and cooperative play and includes everything needed to play in the core set, with additional playable Decepticons available via expansions.
