Players compete in a late-16th-century court by constructing hands, manipulating rivals’ cards, and betting to claim scoring cards. Each round has three phases: build a four-card hand through swapping or playing effect cards, a betting phase where players wager on various scoring categories (queens/jesters, pairs/trios, total value), and a resolution where cards are revealed and points awarded. Cards have simple, intuitive effects that often target other players (force reveals, swap cards, cancel actions, eliminate played cards), so interaction and bluffing are constant. Rounds repeat until a player reaches the target score.
