Sentient

Draft robot cards to add units to a personal factory tableau and manipulate the dice that represent each slot’s programming. Each robot alters adjacent dice values or provides effects, and players allocate actions between optimizing their bots and attracting investor cards that score at game end. Players plan placement and sequencing to create favorable dice results, balance short-term gains with long-term stability, and adapt when newly added robots change neighboring dice and upset previous plans.

Each round players in turn place one of their four meeples to claim a card from the center display. Each card has a basic math requirement that needs to be met by the dice to the left and right of the slot you place the card into on your player board. This gets further complicated by the card often additionally preforming a plus 1 or minus 1 transformation to the dice based on the cards top icons. Each card also has a suite, and you increase an endgame score multiplier for suites by having a majority of claim tokens surrounding the border tiles between two cards. Then there are these delightful little tokens you get to spend each round, to be placed along with a claim worker token to increase your bid for the multiplier tile, or over one of the transformation icons at the top of the card to ignore that die change. At the end of each round your four cards taken that round will score their printed value if their math equation is true. It's thinky, short, and there's some interesting back and forth as dice values wrap around from 1 to 6, and you might take a card that invalidates things to try and take another and place it next to it that will put things back the way you need them. Lots of room for clever moves, and the card type/multiplier element helps keep the game from feeling too much like work. :star: Art, Iconography and components functional :star: Clever or interesting mechanisms :star: Reasonably low downtime between turns with mildly AP players :star: Multiple plays stay interesting :star: Low or mitigatable luck elements :star::nostar::nostar::nostar::nostar: Raw enjoyment

Good and intelligent game where you have to do some maths to win. Visually stunning, a bit overproduced for my tastes, but it's so original and fun to play
