The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game – Nightmare Deck: Encounter at Amon Dîn

A village under siege by a band of Orcs forces a choice between rescuing civilians and preserving the heroes’ safety. Players lead a small fellowship of heroes through a modified encounter deck that increases enemy threat, adds harsher locations, and introduces new encounter cards that change scenario flow. Gameplay keeps the original scenario structure but replaces and augments encounter cards according to the Nightmare setup, creating more dangerous enemies, punishing treks between locations, and hard resource- and decision-based dilemmas. Players must balance rescue efforts, quest progress, and survival as the scenario’s altered deck punishes overcommitment and demands careful planning.
