Quixo

1995 · Abstract Strategy

Quixo

Players manipulate a 5x5 grid of reversible cubes that are blank on most faces and show a cross or circle on opposite faces. On a turn, a player removes a cube from the outer ring that is either blank or already shows their symbol, rotates it to display their symbol if needed, then pushes it back into the same row or column, shifting other cubes along. Cubes gradually change from blank to player symbols as pieces slide around. Play continues until a player creates an orthogonal or diagonal line of five of their symbols, which ends the game.
