Sky Team

Two players take the roles of pilot and co-pilot of an airliner and cooperate to land at airports around the world. Players silently assign dice to cockpit actions to balance the aircraft, manage speed, set flaps and landing gear, contact the tower, and use limited abilities to adjust dice values. Each airport presents different conditions and hazards such as turbulence; incorrect or uncoordinated assignments can cause stalls, overshoots, or collisions and end the flight. The game emphasizes nonverbal teamwork and careful dice placement under escalating difficulty.

Rules questions

Answered from the rulebook by Ludoya's rules assistant.

How do I resolve Axis placement — how do I turn toward the higher die, and what makes us 'spin' and lose?

When you place an Axis die you compare it to the plane’s current Axis and rotate the plane toward the higher value by the difference; if that rotation would cause a spin (an over-rotation) it is an immediate loss, and the win for Axis is when the plane is horizontal (level). (See page 5.)

When I place Engines, how do I calculate how far the Approach track advances and what causes a collision or overshoot loss?

Add the two Engine dice and compare the total to the Aerodynamics markers to determine whether the Approach track advances 0, 1, or 2 spaces; advancing into another airplane’s space or past the runway causes a collision/overshoot and a loss. (See page 6.)

How does Radio work — which airplane on the Approach track does it remove?

You place the Radio die on the Approach track to remove one airplane token from the Approach track (the Radio action is used specifically to remove an approaching airplane). (See page 7.)

Can I use Concentration (coffee) to change a die below 1 or above 6, and how many coffee tokens can I hold?

Each Concentration (coffee) token lets you modify a die by +1 or −1 but dice values must remain within the 1–6 range, and you can hold at most three coffee tokens. (See page 8.)

How do Brakes work — what values do they deploy to and when do we check them against Speed?

Brakes deploy in steps (first to 2, then 4, then 6); when you place the Brakes die you advance the red brakes marker, and during the landing check you compare the plane’s Speed to the Brakes value as part of the win/loss resolution. (See pages 9 and 11.)

What exactly are the landing win conditions on the final turn?

To land successfully on the final turn the Approach must be clear, Flaps and Gear must be green (deployed), the Axis must be level, and the plane’s Speed must be less than the Brakes value. (See page 11.)
