2011 · City Building
Urban Sprawl
Players act as developers, financiers, and politicians shaping a town into a sprawling city. On a street grid they place buildings, claim control with cubes, and manage Wealth and Prestige that together determine building values and victory. On a turn players may discard Permit cards for Investment, then spend a fixed number of Action Points to acquire Permit cards, construct buildings, or claim exclusive Contracts; costs vary by card position. Buildings grant one‑time bonuses and contribute to zone majorities (Government, Residential, Industrial, Commercial) that influence elections and provide office abilities. Events, elections, and payouts occur between turns as neighborhoods rise, decline, and shift across the map. Final scoring uses Prestige rows, accumulated Wealth, and held offices to determine the winner.

Evan5.9 Construct a city and try to own the most valuable properties while also having the most cubes in each row of the city grid. Very harsh, game routinely helps the player in the lead, which normally I hate in a game, but for some reason it works here to the game's advantage, as players scramble to stay out of last place. A lot of city builder games try to do what this game does, and don't do it even half as well. One of the amazing things about this game is that the player who winds up with the Mayoral role, has to hand out special and powerful effect cards to the other players. The game does flow a lot better with a simple spreadsheet showing what the current values of each row are, so that you can quickly at a glance discern which spot on the grid is most and least valuable, as this is frequently used by the game's effects to either help or punish a player. :star: Art, Iconography and components functional :star: Clever or interesting mechanisms :star: Reasonably low downtime between turns with mildly AP players :star: Multiple plays stay interesting :star: Low or mitigatable luck elements :star::star::nostar::nostar::nostar: Raw enjoyment
No pots fer cap tiùs d'estrategia...
