Enemy Coast Ahead: The Doolittle Raid

A solitaire simulation of the April 1942 carrier-launched bombing raid on the Japanese home islands. The player organizes, equips and trains a squadron of B-25 medium bombers, plans the naval launch, navigates the long flight, conducts target attacks over Japanese cities, and manages recovery and debriefing phases. Play proceeds in six narrative segments—Planning, Naval, Flight, Over Targets, Recovery and Debriefing—each posing decisions that shape subsequent chapters. Historical scenarios isolate portions of the operation for shorter play and learning, while larger scenarios chain segments together to recreate the full mission and its operational dilemmas such as secrecy, range, crew survival and carrier risk.
