Lost Valley: The Yukon Goldrush 1896

I giocatori vestono i panni di cercatori d’oro dell’epoca del Klondike, che si addentrano in una valle in continua espansione alla ricerca di oro, legname e zone di pesca. A ogni turno esplorano nuove tessere della mappa, gestiscono il peso e le scorte, ed equipaggiano strumenti, fucili, dinamite e legname necessari per estrarre risorse e sopravvivere alle intemperie. Il movimento, l’allocazione delle risorse e il piazzamento delle tessere modellano la mappa in continua evoluzione e le opportunità disponibili; nelle località contese è possibile avanzare rivendicazioni e competere per filoni e foreste limitati. I moduli opzionali aggiungono canali, nuove abilità e ulteriori percorsi verso la vittoria, mentre la distribuzione variabile delle pepite e la disposizione casuale della mappa rendono diversa ogni partita.

An exploration, tile laying, resource collection race game. In this game you move your meeple around the edges of the diamond shaped tiles, and can interact with the various tokens you discover along the way. The goal is to get the most gold. This game comes with an intimidating number of tokens, but it plays quickly and smoothly. I enjoy how your character can level up the more stuff he builds, which unlocks extra skills and abilities that help you muck about. I'm frustrated by the lack of player aids and the way the game ends. Either one player blitzes head and declares the end early, or else an ice cube token dances it's way up and downstream depending on die rolls. ☆ Art, Iconography and components functional ☆ Clever or interesting mechanisms ★ Reasonably low downtime between turns with mildly AP players ★ Multiple plays stay interesting ★ Low or mitigatable luck elements ★★☆☆☆ Raw enjoyment

Played with my kids numerous times now. Excellent exploration-style game. Only nitpick is that we've had to house rule certain aspects of the game to make it flow a little smoother with the kids.
